I always remembered how hard everyone had to struggle for better education when I was in Hong Kong. People don't just graduate and go to Universities. To be in University you'll have to write an exam to compete with many many others because the seats were limited. You not only have to pass the exams., but your marks has got to be rated as "Distinction" (meaning the best) in the subjects chosen for the exams.
Many teenagers who could not pass the exams had committed suicide by jumping off buildings, because they felt less valuable as a human being and they felt such failure when they didn't pass the exam. that would enable them to go to University.
The Chinese have been working very hard to improve on selves, and improve on the country itself for the past several decades, and the reward is quite evident.
