Dirt roads are really wondrous things
They poke into the neatest places
Taking us to happy times
With smiling eyes and loving faces
Dirt roads speak of history
As deep as time, and even more
They're pathways for time travellers
To travel back to times of yore
You-trapped in concrete canyons
All stressed out and out of shape
Go travel down an old dirt road
And let your poor tired soul escape
Escape to simpler, gentler times
The times the world seemed far more real
Take memory's magic carpet ride
And just see how darned good you feel
I grew up travelling old dirt roads
It's where I sort of got my start
And these treasures of a bygone time
Still snuggle here within my heart!

In my childhood days, I spent many hours walking dirt roads. Nowadays it wouldn't be safe. This one took me back.

Loved the dirt road that would lead to the fishin' hole and there is where I would cast my pole's line, as I rested from the sounds of life's busy highway.
