I Should Have...

Being a lazy sot-er-sort-I have reduced my world to two seasons. The cold season starts Sept.1. The warm season starts March 1. This is in celebration...

I should have stayed at home today
And worked at something there
But a teasing breeze blew through the trees
And spring was in the air

And I'm a weakling-Heaven knows
When the springtime breeze rolls in
So I run to Mother Nature's side
'Though I know it is a sin

I love this lady more than life
And all winter long I wait
For Her first spring breeze to kiss and tease
And I just can't break our date

I have to run when She beckons me
It's a call I can't ignore
The way I've run to be with Her
So many times before

The world and wife may not forgive
But they don't understand
How I and Mother Nature
Are in love with this great land!

Hi John, What can I say but "Thank You". I asked and you delivered. This is a beautiful, beautiful, poem, John. Another one I'll have to add to my list of favorites. I am totally in awe of your writing, your awareness of nature and your easy way with words. I so enjoy your poems.

Christine said it all when she said, "Beautifully verseed," because it is, John! Your words sang together in a hummed melody.
Warm Love,
