At my age each day is a treasure
'Cause you never know which one's your last
Each warm summer's eve such a pleasure
But God, they go by much too fast
At my age the hindsight's much keener
Than foresight, or eyesight and such
And the wisdom I've gained over decades
I have used, but it hasn't helped much
At my age most men are succesful
They've fulfilled the best part of their dreams
Or they're down and they're out in some gutter
I'm in limbo, for I'm neither it seems
But I've gone and I've seen
And there are places I've been
Where a good many others have not
And I treasure each day that the Lord sends my way
Yes, I value the treasures I've got!

a beautiful poem John, but remember, you are not that much older then I am, and I'm starting my path to a new career!
Hello John, This was wonderful to read, for often those "successful" men, lost something on the way to success...and those who ended up in the gutter had lost their dreams, I rather think, that you took the time to smell a rose or two, and kept going despite the curves life threw you, Thats how I see it anyway, because you are one of the best persons I have had the pleasure of meeting,
Excellent Poem, made me stop and think a bit..oh..as for the age thing, my mom says, you don't even get good sense til your forty, I always thought that was funny...
