Poem Artwork

Destitute

Steps rush and tongues hushed,
two cups; on the edge of a table
sunlight and shadow creates
a rescue from turning pages
Between revolutions and writhing,
across space, you vacantly stare
at the ash of my cigarette while
dysfunction and disease dream
of sacred place, electro-shock,
Bob Dylan and destitute people
Smoke slithers silently upward,
the lines poetry takes as it makes
a freeway through empty rooms

 Reviews of "Destitute"

Poetry rising from the ashes of destitution, giving colour in a black and white world. When sunlight sends shadows into my art studio that is when I stop lifting brushes. Scottish Parliament is obssessed with cigarette ash while all around social decay abounds. I don't know if my reading of your poem was your intention, but it is written in a style that is accessible to any number of interpretations.
I am thankful to the one who recommended your work.

Regards
Dai

This would be a great performance piece Deborah.

Deborah ...

This write is rich.

And I like the analogy of "two cups on the edge of a table."

I have to agree with Dr. Lilly, the last two lines place a unique perspective on this - like searching through wilderness to find the water that causes artistic growth.

Light and Wisdom ...

Through the Amazon by S. Oliver Eldridge

The drug called "The Shari" has been used for vision quests over many years. But, when all the rivers start drying up, the tribe must send a young hunter named Tomás on a much more important trip through the Amazon.
