My Evaluation

“All my life I’ve been looking for somebody else to make me whole, but I had to learn the hard way; true love began with ‘Dee’ “I. Arie

Survival as a writer comes with a price
Late nights burning brightly
While the whole house is asleep
Body is aching with pain
Mind screaming
“Give me sweet release”
Sweet liberty comes flowing out of my pen
Leaking unto a willing page
Words eager to perform on life’s stage
Your heart whispers
“Be careful”
Sensing your inner man’s hidden rage
But still she is delighted because you’re writing again…

You taught me how to survive
Teaching me to pay attention to the world within and the one outside
I’m ready to plant all the seeds you have kept for me
Tight in your container of love
A safe deposit box that was created for DEE
I know I used to be blind, but now I can see
The weak is becoming strong
Poems transforming into songs
Leaving some behind now I must move on,

What’s a writer’s notebook anyway?

A place to start even if you don’t finish
A container with a secure lid
An incubator of first words
A test tube for hidden thoughts
Imagination’s sketch pad
A place where life’s judgment doesn’t exist
A place where perseverance is sweet bliss
It’s the ticking of the heart
The flowing of the blood
The rhythm of the thighs
The air for your lungs
It’s a writing arena
A eulogy when we die
It’s the clearing in the forest
It the tears that flows from your eyes
It the key to liberty
It is the moment of realization
That the one that really matters the most after God (that is)
Is you…

6 mins and counting before I must go to bed
I promised myself to rest more
Have to reenergize the inner self
Then I can free my pen pouring out all that is within me
Rage filling the pages
Wonders turning into thoughts,
Dreams and perceptions
Internal details and life’s questions that seem to always go unanswered…
Till tomorrow…

ODE to my Bible
(ABABCDECDE)

When the internal storms of my life are raging sky high
And the emotional valleys within me has sunken too low
When the air that I breathe becomes the wind that makes me cry
Reading your sacred pages make my dying spirit grow
I’ve had so many books before you, but none have changed my heart
No novel, epic, or poem can shine their light on thee
From the beginning of Genesis, to the Psalms that David performed
Stories of people living life in ways that set them apart
Words of wisdom flowing freely from you into me
You are my companion for life, with you I’ve always belonged

Tired
I get so tired waiting for something
And feeling like it’s never “gonna” come
Get so tired of dreaming big
Knowing that if it’s not God’s will, it won’t be done
Tired of being proper all the time
Wanting to tell the world what’s really on my mind
Tired of being shackled to my invisible cross
Sharing the pain of my savior whose earthly life was lost
Tired of being tired, after eight hours of sleep
If only I could wake with the remedy that gives me peace
Tired of shallow friends
No longer wanting to plunge into the deep with me
Tired of feeling alone
Tired of complaining
While knowing the true dilemma lies inside of Dee…

The constant pulsing in my brain
Tells me that my brain is rebelling under the strain
My heart is reciting “God won’t give me more than I can bear”
My back is caving in, a reaction to internal fear
My lungs are begging me for more air
My hands want to know if they are still blessed
My brain won’t give up
We must pass life’s test.

Frozen moments
Hidden insights of the mind
Forgotten stories
Invitations to find places only a few can find
Senses acknowledging the kicking that is happening within me
Give me the strength not to abort the vision that only I can see
No conscious mind is waiting to receive my words of liberty
So I transfer the wisdom back to myself
With hopes that one day I can be totally free.

Here I go again reinforcing myself on a page
I don’t know about other writers
But sometimes I feel like I’m caught in a cage
With no wings to fly free
Writing being my own authenticity
Telling the world my particulars
The illumination of my soul
The solving of Dee’s mystery
A story dying to be told

Here I go again stumbling unto life’s page
Making my pen my earthly slave
Using its blood to record my tales
The dramatic revelation of my human situation
Promising me change without self mutilation
A change worth pursuing
With details included free of charge…

I woke up inside an awareness box and I was all alone
Screaming out to God, “What lesson should I learn?”
It isn’t funny how much a heart can grieve
After a 16 year friendship and your BF leaves
Abandoned, forsaken and left by myself to cry
Bitter tears, wasted years, but still I want to rise
Passing the expectations of this failed relationship
Passing the what ifs, the what was and all the we’ll never know
Passing them all while learning to let go
Learning how to be free
Learning that some birds fly higher alone
Instead of in groups of two, four or three
“Gotta” sing that old song
‘Let it be! Let it be! Let it be’
Three small words of wisdom
This should be so easy
But I still desire to know
Where we went wrong
When did friends turn into foes?
When did water stop his desire to flow?
And how was the flower supposed to know?
One day she just realized that she was no longer growing
She didn’t want to leave her garden filled with hidden delight
But what should a flower do when her sunlight turns to night
She can stay in that garden waiting patiently until she dies
Or she can call out to the gardener
“Please sir help me rise!”

Good morning Inspiration
Good morning self love
Good morning Forgiveness
Good morning Holy One
As I open my eyes on this day
It will be an honor if you lead the way
In these uncertain times
I sometimes feel like I’m losing my mind
When my will gets weak
And my mouth refuses to speak
Let the rivers of my eyes open up and weep
Releasing the depths of my being that was asleep
Time promised to erase the pain in my chest
Teaching me how to live
A life without regrets

Perfection is an illusion of Dee’s mind

I hate to see you go
Good friends are not a dime a dozen
But even fertilizer wont make this friendship grow
We’ve been through too much
And seen too many things
And I am tired of being a puppet
Letting the world pull on my emotional strings
So I’m “gonna” love you from a distance
Like a star in the sky above
Late at night just look up
And remember that you’ll always be loved…

What my WNB is to me?
It’s more valuable than a friend
Because no matter what our friendship will never end
It is the oven that bakes my words
It is the binding that keeps me closed
It is the revelation of my life
It’s my morning, noon and night
It is an appetite that never stops
It is the cover for my pot
It is the butter for my fly
It holds my tears when my pen cries
It’s whatever I need it to be
It’s the instrument that sets me free.

“One of the Most Creative Forms”
Poetry
“One of the Most Creative Forms”
Poetry
A gift given to me on the day I was born
A pen and a notebook and I am destined to be
A liberator of broken lives
Read and Rise
Write and Inspire
And then you will be free
A weapon against mass destruction
A passion filled ability to write
I am “One of the Most Creative Forms” that was created to be
Ready, able and willing to write my story called Liberty
Poetry
“One of the Most Creative Forms”
Thank you Lord for the day Poetry was born.

I feel like the perception of my life is twisted
In fact I know it is
What really matters is unknown to me
If only I can identify this place where I am
Then maybe I could be set free
I’m so tired, but still I can’t sleep
Lonely with no BF insight
Crying out to my Abba in the middle of the night
Have mercy dear Lord, have mercy on Dee
Lead me to the place of my destiny
Where I will be able to fly high above my storm
Free living life and loving my Quran…

Home – Sunday 11:10 pm
Why so sad little heart?
Why so sad?
Why so sad little eyes?
Why so sad?
Why not look around and see all the good that has been done?
Why not save your tears and go play in the sun?

If I could fly I would right now and free myself
Taking only my good memories with me
Giving my dying heart liberty on the way home
But I am not a transformer
Instead I was branded by my life
Standing still while I’m injected with pain
Visions and memories of the lamb that was slain
Why does love have to hurt so bad?
10:26pm 4/7/10

My children were born in the rhythm of my soul
Dancing daily to the drumming
As their destiny unfolds
Undulations of my thighs
Quick movement of my feet
Swift movement of my pen
Across the white sheets
Angels cry out to my spirit
As my heart keeps a steady beat
Proclamation of an earthy princess
We will not accept defeat
