There is an eerie quietness in the

city streets this day

a sign that something has gone

awry

 something  is amiss

sadder still is the way that it

happened

Baby mama boyfriend got pissed

and a sock found its way in her

throat

more lives down, more candles

burned out

body buried six feet under

ground

while another buried six feet

behind steel barred cage

and still another buried with a

troubled mind

fill with could I have, should I

have and what if I had

**********

The streets are quiet again today

DAM what is it this time

or have I just become jaded

no a brother jumped, pushed or

just manipulated

whatever the precursor the

result is the same

another dead body to be claimed

by the morgue

one more bottle at the A-RAB

store begging for DOE-NATION

to put the body six feet under

a grandmother moans, groans,

question and doubts

could I have, should I have and

what if I had

another quiet day in Colored

Town
another could a, woulda shoulda

in Overtown

Still Living on my Feet by Tichaona Chinyelu

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
