Long Past midnight

It is long past the midnight hour
When all should be at rest
But no such option lay within my grasp
These walls from wind and storm doth protect me
But the storm is not without it is within

What or who is there to protect
From the battle that wages within
Who will be the referee when a foul has been committed
How long will this battle continue
Who started it , who will end it and how will it end

Must there be a looser and a winner
Or can we all come out ahead
Someone please part the foes
Stop the fight and call a truce

It is way pass midnight
And some rest I am desperately in need of
The storm raging from within
Must be calmed, must subside
It is  long past the midnight hour
