For too long I have been a stranger in my own mind
No one to turn to and no where to hide
The ghost of the past rode swiftly and purposefully through the plains of my mind
Strolling through the lush garden cultivated by illusions
And drunk from the fountain of pain and delusions
The pain is abundant
Watered and fed by that which works best in the darkness
But there are those, to my delight who prefer when all is bright and clear
I slowly and carefully draw the curtain of darkness that covers my mind
I can see a small glimmer of light
Could it be, yes it is, there is hope
I want the light, but I am afraid
For too long I have lived in the dark
My eyes have grown accustomed
Like an old friend its hard to let go
But slowly ever so slowly the light moves in
For too long I have been a stranger in my own mind
