A childhood revisited, A wound heal, A teacher forgiven
I closed my eyes not wanting to see or to feel
That which I know was about to be

Who to rescue me no one insight
All I can see is a tiny glimmer of light
Streaming through the crack in the wooden window frame
Could, would, should my soul ride on this stream of light
That stretches like a ladder coming to rescue me
To rescue a child whose sight has been taken

My soul will ride this stream of light
Out the window into the night
Out and up I will go
Far away, far to be
Where it is safe, safe for me
Never again this scene to see

And spellbound in confusion
****
It is over for the moment at least
But the clouds still hang heavy on my childish heart
I think I must forget
I believe it best
If only for a moment
Maybe that is all I need.
