In the sweat shops of Calcutta
spools and spools of many colors
young men and old ones too
face you will never see
sit at machines old and out dated
spinning threads that will become the fabrics of your life
Threads of multi-color splendor
only the rainbow could compete
Be careful with your fabric Sirs and Madams
should you pull too strongly on a thread
the fabric of your life will begin to unravel
and what would you do
being all the way up there in the hills of ignorance and bliss
while the valleys of Calcutta is so far from view
In the sweat shops of anywhere village
down third world lane
spools of thread colored in pain
strengthened with unshed tears
weave together by unfulfilled dreams
creating the fabric of need and greed
