To find that we have lost our SELF is hard though to get lost ,at times,is so easily done, some lose themselves FOREVER,though they may seem to be still here, they are gone. Have you ever lost YOU?

Do you sometimes think you never really existed at all and only in dreams do you catch a glimpse of the you that once was?So much of life's chaos, aggression and mayhem clutter down upon you suffocating any of the beauty and camouflaging the innocence.
And so it is for many of us who have believed in the perfectness of humankind for 'Truth' in her wisdom, has no choice but to torture us into the reality of knowing and seeing the human race as it truly is....a very flawed creature.
She taught me her lesson well .Years of vultures picking upon my spirit's bones scattered me away until the the hungry scavengers finally had their fill leaving me in dark dismal solitude
Disguised as a corpse that is when I began to heal. Being left for dead was life's blessing .
Flowers began to grow around me and over my bones so too did grow the sweet smelling weeds of acceptance. Dandelions and clover covered me over and gentle breezes whispered through my injured soul. Pain fell away as the leaves do in autumn and suddenly there came the soft trace of a smile. I lifted my head raising my eyes into the clear skies finding again the naive ponderings of simpler childish awe.
Barefoot I walk through the long sweet grass of contentment and I run my fingers through the crystal lake of peace and there deep in its blue reflection I see someone I once knew, with beauty, free to just BE...amazed,the me I once lost is found

Since you reviewed my poem I thought I would reciprocate. I was truly impressed by the content and the selection of words in this poem. It was so much more than truth, beauty and the American way that most poets gravitate to. It could really feel what you said. The words kept my attention all the way through to the surprise ending. The reawakening of a lost soul. A wonderfully crafted piece of work!

I can relate to this one for it is all too easy when we are striving to just keep our heads above water to tie in all the negativity of our past and lose sight of what once made us smile in our hearts...but still if we seek we shall find. Glad you found you Kay.

This is brilliant Kay, very sad in places but exceptionally well written. and I have to say that it would be a terrible shame for anyone to lose some-one as warm and kindhearted as you.
take care.

i'm happy, Kay, you posted this under
Mainstream because it certainly is a work
this reader, for one at least, can wholeheartedly
identify with, it speaks to me in the clearest,
most personal way..and it challenges and it hurts
a little...as it should.
Yes!
