Skeletons in a closet.

The skeletons in my closet like the door closed tight
they don't want you opening it and screaming out in fright,
they're happy hiding the dark forgotten by the light,
my skeletons are quite content staying out of sight.

Don't ask of me of the things Ive done before you came my way,
just accept that now I'm here and trying hard to stay,
the only thing I'm planning is to 'do the best I can',
and skeletons they have a way of ruining that plan.

I'd like to start from scratch my friend (if that's okay with you?)
but yes a skeleton is there,(in fact there are a few.)
I know you think I'm innocent of straying from 'The Light',
but there were some years where I swear ALL my days were NIGHT.

So if you want to know me now ,don't ask me where I've been,
don't question me about my past ,or all the things I've seen,
just look now at the deeds I do,(they will never lie to you,)
let hidden bones of woe know peace again...
for THOSE skeletons wont show you who... I am.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, we all have skeletons of one kind or another, though I doubt that yours are all that terrible, because you have always had a kindly heart.
I did love the poem and it is great to read your work again.

Excellent poetry and plenty of good down home advice to go along with it.
