It doesn't seem to be RIGHT to me...
no,it doesn't seem to be ...
that refugees do not have the right  TO BE...FREE.

'But for God's grace' we all could be
living as a refugee.
It doesn't seem to be right to me
that I am free to gaze at stars,
while others fade behind steel bars,
and that just should not be.
So I find the strength to stand and shout
I know my words may cast me 'OUT'

of  the Establishment I know and of our Status quo .

 So many of us here
view the refugees with fear,
the leaky boats bring them our way
but we can't  leak their hope to 'stay.'

   They are people we don't know,
reaching out with eyes of woe,
mother's covered in their veils,
father's burdened by sad tales,
cultures that are unlike ours,
war torn by corrupted powers,
escaping they flee to our shore
in hope to give their children more,
trapped inside detention walls,
where politicians muff their calls.

   It doesn't seem to be
RIGHT...to me.
Too many here think it's wrong
for ancient cultures to 'BELONG'
 in this fertile land,
where I stand.

  So now I pen this poem,

 expecting most will throw a stone,

 asI pray those poor souls find a home.

  So there...I've had my say ,

   and here I yell out: 'Let them stay!'

   This land is wide enough to share,

   let them in and show you care,

   one day it might  be you  

   who has to walk inside their shoe.

   I've coward silent for too long,

   I saw the drowning of the strong...

 and Australia...that was wrong.

    Desperate folk are on their way

    has compassion seen its day?

    We're holding them behind wire fences,

   has humanity lost its senses?

  They are struggling on their own,
when 'All this world
is all our home,
for brown and black and white,
all free to see the stars at night.
Together,ever happily.
Yes...THAT does seem to be RIGHT to me .
