When I was a child, for reasons unknown,
My birth parents moved, and left me alone
Out in the country, away from the fold,
An elderly lady my keeper, I'm told.
It seemed no one cared, except God of course
Who knew all along there'd be no remorse
For He would provide a mom and dad dear,
To adopt me in love and always be near!
They taught me about unconditional love,
The kind that can only come down from above.
It stands and forbears when all is at loss,
And never gives up, no matter the cost!
Now half a century has gone and I should
Relate in this story that all is still good
They've grown old in age, are nearing the end
But always will know they've been my godsend!
My heritage great is important to me,
For I was born, but then "chosen", you see,
A life that was bleak, by God was made glad,
Because of my wonderful mother and dad!
