What Might Have Been

There may be times of sad resolve
Because of things unseen-
The best to come for all involved
Is when God intervenes!

It's easy for us all to do
The every day routine-
But then the trouble we ensue
May drive a wedge between!

Before all's said and done we find
The thing that might have been
Brings heartaches, tears and words unkind
So different now than then!

What might have been may now not be,
Our God knows best for all-
He knows our future and can see
What makes us rise or fall!

So keep us, Lord, within your will
And help us not to grieve-
For there will be another, still,
If only we'll believe!
