Paul Newman

I wish I were here today,

but my mind is somewhere else.

I wish I liked beer today,

but my tastebuds live somewhere else.

Wish Paul Newman were still alive today,

but they're holding his funeral somewhere else.

And someone somewhere else cried a few tears

or more than a few.

I've lots more, more years

to be here or somewhere else.

and I've lots of black in my wardrobe.

to wear somewhere else

or perhaps here.

And it's fitting today, so here I say to myself,

We all loved you, Paul Newman.

I'm not here alone

to be sad in black,

to shed a few tears,

to realize the years

you made it all fun

for everyone.

And not somewhere else ...

You reached all our hearts right here or right there.

And we know we'll stand back

from the crowd surrounding that horrible place

for someone we love ...

A place we call,

The End

A wonderful tribute this is- I am a classic film addict and so often I wonder if we appreciated, especially back then, the true artists that these people were, back before movies could be sold on violence and sex and Paul Newman was one of those.

He was a very talented and giving man who lived his life full and touched many, very endearing tribute...

Be always safe,
Karen

A proper and timely tribute, Jennifer. He was/is a class act in my humble estimation. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Regis
