In The Heart of a Dog

 I speak not of cats

for I know not of cats

but as for dogs

for I know of dogs.

How,

they must wonder,

do I live in heat

when winter winds howl?

How,

they must wonder,

does this stuff I must drink

so magically appear

when my bowl no longer

runneth over?

How,

they must wonder,

does this stuff I must eat

so magically appear

when my bowl no longer

runneth over?

How does the darkness

turn to light?

How does the light

turn to darkness?

How do the things

I play with magically appear?

How does my being

swell with love for

the godly giver

of warmth

of water

of food

of light

of love?

In the heart of a dog

the giver of warmth,

of food,

of water,

of light,

of  love,

in the heart of a dog

the giver,

the you and me

must be as God.

to them 'we' must be...whatever warms their heart, 'we' become and they reward us with unconditional love. Your love of animals is evident and this is a sweet piece, Mark ~Your friend, Lizzie

Interesting perspective. I have two dogs. No wonder I feel like God sometimes. You know, maybe I am God. Yeah, that's it! I'm God!!! I really liked this piece. Thanks for sharing. Take it easy.

A man alone with a other man will be ignored, a man alone with a dog will never be alone.
