The Time of Testing

The Time of Testing a strain for all

But a time that is used to break down our walls

Walls of indifference, insecurity, and excuse

How will you prosper? Through testing's abuse

Amazingly enough, testing is seen

As something so bad, impure, and unclean

Yet see the revelation, the knowledge so pure

That testing can prep you and make feel sure

See during your test, the Teacher just stands

Watching and waiting, arms crossed, folded hands

Looking at students, some stressed and some strained

Because all of the answers their mind can't obtain

Some didn't study, some wasted their time

Some were unfocused, some will not shine

Some will fly some will fall, the test it will tell

Who's ready and who's not, to drink from the well

The well of prosperity, refreshing and new

The test oh so grand, you'll question; who knew?

Who knew that this test, would show my resolve

My strength and my power and all that evolved

Since the day that I started, this journey so deep

With fights and with trials, like wolves versus sheep

The tears and the pain from experience gained

Through times of transition that I could not tame

To run at my pace, the pace I select

But Life said No No, I will not neglect

Your areas of weakness, your place of no strength

I will press you and prime you, you'll stretch to new lengths

Than you ever thought possible by little 'ol you

The one who thought small, the one with small view

So testing will come, in all shapes and all forms

But there's something to know, as we perform

All who are tested are in the same Class

Same Teacher, Same Lesson, yet some will not pass

All of the Lessons come from the same Book

All of the answers are there if you'll look

Study my friend, study and see

That the test is so easy, the answers are free

Then again I must say, some don't show up

To the free lessons, they won't drink from the cup

Some who sit down, in every class

Don't pay attention, so they cannot pass

But the knowledge is there, the Teacher, He pleas

Saying learn what I say, learn what I see

This knowledge about, the life that you lead

Is here for the taking, you don't have to flee

To hear other voices, who mean you no good

Listen to me and do as you should

The time of the test, no one can speak

No questions, no answers, no one can peek

No clues and no hints, the Teacher won't tell

The time of your test is here so do well

All people, all nations, all creeds, and all colors

Are given the same time, the same lesson, no other

So any excuse when testing time comes

Cannot be supported, no not a one

I gave you the lesson when learning time came

You could even ask questions, even down to My name

But when that time's over, it's over indeed

Because the time of your testing is time just to see

How far you have come and if you will fail

To learn of my lesson, this time it will tell

Some finish quickly because they may know

But some finish quickly since their knowledge was low

Some take their time, enjoying the pace

Some are frustrated, just look at their face

The time that it takes to finish does not say a word

But the quality of work, that's good or absurd

Some they will fly, some they will fall

Some they will shine, some won't try at all

The bottom line being, they all had the same chance

Same opportunity to sing and to dance

To celebrate victory over a test

Of which answers were given to show they're the best

No one is perfect, this sir is true

But to all it was given the chance to pursue

To chase down My Knowledge, to chase down My Dream

So that all may live, in a glorious scene

To be celebrated, to be seen by all

As one who is excellent, as one who didn't fall

Your test is your test, so see it like this

It's your time to shine, please do not miss

This opportunity to press, to step and to move

To the place that's impossible, a place you can prove

That always was yours, if you would just try

To study and see that you're able to fly

The test it will come, to prove who you are

And prove Who is in you, and that you're a star
