Half a Heart

With a question is how I'll start

How can you love with half a heart?

Love's a gift and that's no lie

But halfway done's not worth the try

With God, with man, with pets, and more

No one wants half, there's more in store

For those who give, all of who

They've grown to be; not part of you

When loving God guess what He wants

Your heart and life, none of your taunts

That say I'm here and yet you're gone

Body in place but heart has flown

Away with sin, with lust and pride

Your body's here but the truth you hide

Your love is gone with someone else

An idol you keep up on your shelf

A car, some money, and people too

Each thing, each part, has a piece of you

When loving people, the requirement's no less

Who wants a heart that's full of mess

Dirt from the past, baggage and weights

That send you back to the gates

Running back to what used to be

The pain and sorrow; Didn't God set you free?

You no longer have to go that far

Yet you settle for mud when you could have a star

You run between the good and bad

Then good is gone, see what you could have had?

Half a heart won't keep them there

Give your all and do not share

When loving life, don't trick yourself

Enjoy each day, its full of wealth

Don't live halfway with purpose denied

Saying "I could have done" and then you sighed

Life is short don't settle don't stop

Keep pushing and pressing up to the top

There's more for you if you'll just see

That you can say, "There's greatness in me!"

So from this day, start right now

To change your thinking, I'll show you how

Stand real tall and give a shout

"I'll live for God, that's what I'm about!"

But remember my friends before you go

That life is more than what you know

Your life and love has limits you see

All set by you, never by me

In anything done, in life that's right

Don't play around, your time is tight

The sun will set no matter how long the day

The end will come, what will you say?

I played my games, I halfway lived

Because my heart, I did not give

Back and forth, to and fro

I ran and ran, nowhere did I go

Stop and breathe, think a bit

Don't waste your time, get over it

The past is gone, no more hate

Forgive and move, your future's great

Embrace the day, look up ahead

Release the past, forget what's dead

But remember this, a lesson true

The outcome of things is up to you

Give your all, and give your best

And you'll fly higher than the rest

Just remember this question from the start

How can you love with half a heart?
