The Day of Our Fifth Wedding Anniversary

Oft' by unexpected gifts
is God's guidance confirmed to me.
Yet for all my blessed moments known
I never thought I would see
at the summit of my bleakest night,
by shadowed paths through Soul,
this awesome emerald Northern Light
foretell my fortunes flow.

Due North through skies crystal clear
o'er the snowy land,
palpating my anticipation . . .
so slowly she began.
Was it my imagination,
or was she truly there?
Had the polar electro-prism
caught a solar flare???

I stared and strained hedging hope,
I barely dared to breath
so closely was this mega-drama
reflecting into me.

Then, as a midnight ocean ripples
blackest as waves crest,
the sky rolled in her aqua rainbow--
titantic arches luminous,
with a vital pulse that paced my heart
resounding through my soul;
her glowing grew to dizzy hieights
that dwarfed my "self" control.

And as she peaked
a streak thrust through,
impelling gasps of awe--
a piercing sword directive
of my total trust in God.

At the midnight hour, a month to the day after
9-11, my entire life "appeared" to be turned upside down. This was the answer to my prayers. It is dedicated to my husband, Vernon and my Uncle David and Nancy; in their home in Ancorage the experience was shared.
