Shattered Glass

Looking out of my house of misery
The glass in the window was broken and I couldn't see
But the sun shone through so brightly one day
The shattered glass just fell away

Sweeping up the scattered debris
Broken glass on the floor like painful memories
 I long to be free from these thoughts of the past
As I stare into the broken glass

Then I scoop up the debris in my hands
My fingers start to tighten and bleed
And I cry 'Look at what's left of this broken Life Lord
Why did this happen to me'

He said 'Let go of the hurt
and give me all the strife'
Then He held out His nail scarred hand
And said 'it was for your past that I died'

The shattered glass like my shattered past obstructed my view
But the pane was replaced, my pain was replaced
And I caught a glimpse of you
Yes, Jesus I caught a glimpse of you
