I love this. It should be a bumper sticker, Deborah, although I imagine anyone writing serious poetry wouldn't favor publication by means of bumper sticker. This is better than a jewel in a velvet box for me, because this rings with my favorite phrase in a song called "Hands" from female vocalist, Jewel's ' Spirit ' cd -- "in the end . . . only kindness matters." So effective is your coupling of the previous mention of 'words' and 'thoughts' into that sixth line. I have not heard anyone else connect kindness to respect; that is so original.
