This poem carries a surprising little twist in that last line. "But our lives in our time." It's that line that carries more in it than the words written there. Reading brought to me the truth of that last line: the clothes, the hair, the black and white, or the bordered glossies, all attributes the youth of today may not understand. So, those couplets at the end are great closing for the couplets in the beginning: "On every table/You will see." Deborah, the universality of this poem is beautiful. Just beautiful. ~~ Diana
They sure do. I am working on my twin brother's autobiography and finding that my memory is not 20/20. However, the old pictures we have don't lie and show us as we really were and what it was really like. It is wonderful that we can now scan them and put them on the Internet to share with our families when before all we could do wss open the albums every chance we got to review fond memories.
