When the Pen Hovered Close

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Courage of thought is perhaps difficult for some of us, but commitment to paper is sometimes terrifying.

When the Pen Hovered Close

When the pen hovered close
Memories begged to be grounded
Aspirations lunged for the brass ring
And the now waited

When the pen hovered close
Tears gathered to be denied
Laughter remained but an incident of the past
And you, and you, and you
Gathered as linchpins in waiting

When the pen hovered close
I removed the covers
Spread my arms to the infinite
Begged to be courageous enough

When the pen hovered close
The distance from hand to quill finally grew short
The dark ink of release filled the canvas
And all of you were there…

even you

"even you"

Writing, according to the person and the subject written about can truly be terrifying. I am involved with just such a project now. I am attempting to write a running "diary" of what has happened tome in the last six months and what will happen as I and the other person continue with our friendship. I have stopped on Chapter 8. I will go back to it, but I can't just now.

Saying all that so you will understand I know of where you speak.
