The Me of You

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

If you've ever had a dream about family that awakened you suddenly, prodding you to ground its essence for later contemplation, well, this piece about young sons of the past might resonate. After writing it, it occurred to me that perhaps my mind set has more universal meaning than I'd originally supposed. Conundrums, after all, are there to be resolved.

The Me of You

Dreams awaken beneath closed eyelids
all the things I wish to tell you that may never be uttered
but just as roads present destinations defined
even as swollen waterways erode the shoulders of once reserved respite
so too are distant horizons but invitation to the unknown revealed

As airwaves bend to obstacles present
and infinite towers of amorphous antennae rise to connect all that is
the unsealed letters speak softly
like winds gently folding time's memories
through shifting ebbs of timelessness

Learning life's reality
sometimes comes just as unexpectedly as
the rainbow of pain's repose
offering lessons as memento
of now
once yesterday
delivered tomorrow

In my slumber, time asks I never cease sending
the echoed ripples of my trust
to wait patiently as dunes beneath the beat of your heart
knowing that one day the storms of your hearing
will awaken the sound of our forever
beckoning we reposition yesterday's compass for tomorrow's destinations

Space knows only the boundaries of our thought
and like a pink moon rising
loving thoughts are forever present within
the me of you

The lessons of yesterday delivered tomorrow is a very profound statement. I also love the way you describe the way messages travel through the ether
