Security sans Locks

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

There are some who happily go about their daily lives with little or no possessions. Might they know something others don’t?

Security sans Locks

Promised sanctuary is always there
offered  to serve the trusting follower
"The trusting?" some whisper back while
cinching the belt about their Jenny Craig waist
the tether to their Face Book facade
the zip around their iPad case
the barbs encasing their heart

Gently moves the will to imagine
without restraints
quieting the wind of fear
raging storms amid one's resolve

Seek not a dead bolt
rather embrace tenuous threads
knowing all that is worth protecting
awaits but dust nevertheless

Beware the security of locks
willing partners in fear

Know instead attachment and clinging
remain historically roots of despair

Wonderful nothing-to-lose-nothing-to-fear portrait; especially "...attachment and clinging...roots of despair." ~~ Diana

parting with "stuff" is actually like getting rid of a monkey on your back. enjoyed

I agree with the theme of the poem. Much of what we fear isn' real, and we should unlock our locks, reach out, and explore.

Last two lines just about spells it all out, doesn't it, especially the "clinging" word.
