Zen's Zig Zag

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Sometimes the only solace for dealing with the “Separatist” nature of our time is to consider the paradox of “One.”

Zen's Zig Zag

From sketch
to commitment
Life's canvas
portrays like Cubist mapping
intersections changing
colors separating
perspectives evolving
Time nurturing

Youth's playground
like Jungle Jims à la Braque
invites suspended beginnings
embraces the whimsical
allows simple choices

Reach up
Brush down
Zig
Zag
Time waits

We stare into the eye of the canvas
toying our playful decisions
convinced for now
rainbows are without end

Later

Revelation dawns
Time neither pauses nor stops
colors mix
hues collide
youthful primaries abandon

Maturity's tendrils flatter new brushes
splashing humor
dabbing sadness
swirling irony
painting beyond picture

Slowly

From beneath the layered colors
the unimagined emerges
bonds loosen
intersections dissolve
Rubik becomes ether

Like the stroke of a sable brush sans paint
Time no longer matters

Being steps aside
Non-Being surfaces
Limitlessness whispers

Zig

Zag

A beautiful, well constructed, idealistic viewpoint. However, I have been molded from the rough neighborhood of life, dodging bullies and rescuing the helpless, and continue to play the good fight regardless where it takes me. I am happy with my own self enlightenment and do not seek the one.

and one is you . . .
when you're brand new . . .
life is a zoo . . .
a paintbrush too . . .
you're many hues . . .
that's how one grew . . .

A brilliant maneuvering of words and ideas, Odin, and I love the ending!
