The 89th Key

One can only imagine what tomorrow will bring.

The 89th Key

Fingering through experience past
arpeggios of reality run past me
carrying tomorrow's consciousness
like flowers yet to bloom
priming my senses
exciting my heart
preparing another sunrise
letting me know once again
light of white beckons one follow
mindful the mountain ranges of black
carry life's half-steps toward tomorrow
merging dissonance with harmony
conflict to resolve
like a piano's 52 white
36 black
differences getting along

Imagination's 89th key knows not
but to smile
and weep

This is an excellent metaphor! I enjoyed reading this poem. The 89th key adds a special dimension beyond the 6th sense...

Reminds me of the song, “ Ebony and Ivory.” The 89th key is a great metaphor for the unknown future. Conflicts I abound, resolution is not clear.

Interesting concept, using the keys of the piano to deal with existing disharmony and life in general. Yep. This is very good. The 89th key has its work cut out for it.
