Is it possible Odin, that this is the inevitable end-game and outcome of democracy itself... that this venerable institution, designed so long ago in Greece for a small enfranchised group of educated people cannot but produce what we see today in a gargantuan society of millions subject to the mass media - delusion, illusion and mediocrity?

It's all about image and television time. No more self-taught scholars, hands-on warriors born in a log cabin far from the center of politics. The race is on to see who can raise the most money and win the election by spending the most on negative ads.



The very fact that we can be so foolish leads me to believe that tomorrow will be a better day because we always overcome foolishness and there seems to be plenty of cash to go around even with all the hoarding.

Certainly the whole process makes for numbing reality TV. Vomitus talking heads spewing vitriol, lies, accusations, the fingerpointing, the blame game, the hatred; we've become a nation irreparably divided in spirit and purpose. The debt is hard to fathom. What did they say ... 15 trillion? 23 million unemployed? Hand in hand a line that would traverse the entire nation east to west. This is also unfathomable. it's going to be a harrowing ride. And then in three months 12/21/12 is going to dawn. And who knows what will happen then. Peace ...
