It is not like they didn't come
Those brave hearts so choked with fear
It is not like they didn't reach to help
Their bleeding hands all ravaged
From jagged rock and steel
Amidst the twisted smoldering ruins
Laid upon us
In the name of...
We
The ones never found
Were not less important
Only more heavily buried with the ash of evil
From dust-layered extremes of the Middle East
Those places from which hatred floats eternally
As part of interpreted duty to God
Where recipes of poisonous venom are man-made
Monstrous training caldrons simmer
Atop hostile out-of-control fires
In the name of...
We remain missing
Even as the smoke of our witness
Floats eternally as defendants in absentia
Even as more twisted minds
Drinking from their ladles of enmity
Train to vanquish any hope for peace
Learning only to cultivate
Future poisonous attacks
Decreed immune to any antidote

Most Muslims are peace loving individuals. As shown by recent events, extreme leaders and extreme ideologies are being overthrown by people who are joining the larger world and rejecting the tenets of religion that create these demons. Like “Remember the Alamo,” 9/11 will remain in our minds for a long time as an historical event and not something that will persist in the twenty first century where terrorism will not be tolerated.
