Endgame

Some prosetry exploration into why so many of our species choose to program their lives with a beginning middle and end?

Endgame
by Odin Roark

Oh how fictitious
This idea of end
There is no end

Children know better
Their vision leaves no room
For such “end” imaginings

Growth into adulthood
Is accompanied by so many weeds
Negative obstacles of nurturing’s purpose
To strive, survive and die
For now

Hurdles abound
School
Relationships
Career
Retirement

Oh how temporary

Reality struggles
Weathering achievements
Disappointment
Failure
Not knowing such labels
May be but illusion

Breath
Lungs
Plant
Animal
Mammal
Rock

Existence knows no end
Yet our species panics
Lunges for the winning lotto ticket
The golden blond Adonis
The Princess of fairy book tales

Yes is thought of one's theatre
"This will make the endgame worth it"
While Reality’s ancestors
That existence long before our species
Smiles in the wings
Not out of contempt
But sympathy

I
Us
We
Need to encourage
Empower our planet’s imagined superiority to relax
The cosmos has so much more to reveal
If only the species will wake up from its dream slumber

For
Wish it or not
Somewhere out there
Other existence continues to observe
Either by vibration
Or adherence to Oneness
Knowing well
We are but a molecular dot on Time’s radar

It
They
?? know
As should any sentient being
Time
Darkness
Light
Knows no end
Its mission
Simply sustenance
For the willing what/who

Understanding of same
Isn’t beyond our simplistic species
Arrogance and all

Fortunately
A sage learns
The endgame
Is but the closing stage
Of a particular occurrence

Then…

maybe it depends on if your actually playing. who or what determines the goal. Frivilous it all is. To regard what is truly important. Much to contemplate here, enjoyed.

One of my favorite subjects and made vivid by your handling of these lines. I like how you left "Oh how temporary" standing alone, for it fills the eyes better that way. No one else I've read here or anywhere can place single-word lines down with such honed result that 'less' is always better. I like this very much. ~~ Diana

Thoreau said it best: “most men lead desperate lives.” We don't begin in desperation, like you have so eloquently stated, but we usually end or spend much of our time in desperation. We procreate and we die. Father for the great population machine. So few of us rise above that and contribute to what it means human other than to lust and love children.

I hope in this century we looked beyond all of our ritual lives and into what is really important. Writing our stories and putting them on the eternal Internet is a good start.

Yes, Odin, you've written another fine reflective piece. We do indeed need to awaken from our "dream slumber" and embrace the reality that while endgames may have winners, we are all losers if we can't get beyond them, learn from past mistakes and present troubles in a world of endless tomorrows where yellowing yesterdays are just the colours of the Fall, and hope springs eternal. I always enjoy your reflective reveries, so challenging, so stimulating, so envigorating... such an endless supply of energy you have! Good work, as usual, Odin.

We become spirits after this life and will be forever, so there is never an end, only a beginning.

So true. I know because that is where I am at right now. Thank you, Odin. Love and peace,
