Bed Conundrums

We make'em
But won't lie in'em
From "clean your room" time
To military "bounce a dime" time
Beds cling to us
Or
We cling to our beds
Some attach a bed to everything
The "reckless" Bunk
The "get acquainted" Queen
The "power play" King
The "narcissist" Four-poster
The "rulership" Canopy
Romantic, eh?
And oh how careful we choose our trade-ins
Growing up
Growing down
Coming of age
Gaining on age
Running from age
AGE
So
Even though beds are about
Pulling the sheets taut
Fluffing those down pillows airy
Flapping and shaking that comforter protective
Truth be told
Most of us
But concede to lying in'em
Our bed?
Someone else's bed?
Might some of us never find out?
