To Turn Away

Is to ignore
Happiness waiting for sorrow to fade
Contentment of candlelight waning
Courage spawned when facing death
Joy in witnessing dolphins speaking to be felt

To turn away
Is to assume
Sadness longs not for your smile
Love bathes only in luxuriant waters
Life experiences passing as an end

To turn away
Is for those
Who reject paradox
Who see obstacles as stop signs
Who forget a child's imagination
Can live forever in those who never turn away

What a perfect piece of writing for me to read today, Odin. Thank you for writing this. These words can be pulled up to the chin, like a blanket, and comfort anyone understanding them. This one needs laminated and carried in my purse. So sensitive and aware and a creed by which to live. Each last line of all three stanzas carries the enormous meaning and importance of the lines preceeding. Beautifully spoken. ~~ Diana
