Once Carved Of Stone
By Odin Roark
How curious this age
When experience defined
Becomes future's archived images
Feelings
Sensations
Associations
Building beyond
Ancient pictures
For some
Today's events disappear
While for others
Regardless of pain or pleasure
Their moment to moment experience
Is but a technological seed-planting
Awaiting nourishment
Expectancy's tears and laughter
That evolve into
One's personal lexicon
Become part of eternity's vibrations
Synergy that knows only its own relay
Yet pausing for still
Another new-century weigh station
Such is life's perpetuation
Crude stone discoveries
Hieroglyphs once carved on walls
Evolving through the brain's growth
Becoming not just symbols to words
But sounds
Movements
Music
Paintings
Sculpture
Dance
Today
Such ciphers
Are of seeming infinite form
Most often
Hashtags
Words
Handles
Cycled sounds
At times primitive grunts
Spoken incessantly
Via networks
Tweets
Chat rooms
Occasional evolvement
To long-form venues
Such are this century's wall carvings
Becoming new traits of man
Floating in an ether that often
Seduces adults back to childhood
Still
Words Once Carved Of Stone
Fulfilled by imagination's rainbow
Will always find cause for a cosmic blink
Rippling creation's infinite reflection
