As one gets older, one can’t help but imagine good times past…and maybe to come. How lonely it must be for the lonely.

Old Friend
by Odin Roark
Now I am so cold
The overhead florescent light
Carries me back
Where last I saw you
Making my eyelids heavy with sorrow
Then…
And now
With your signature red kerchief
Draped ‘round your neck
How forlornly moved your tumor-burdened eyes
As they led you off
You glanced back
The remembrance of our joyful days
Remained reflected in your painful eyes
A part of me’s happy though
Happy you never had to play with this human trick
Life support sucks you know
See ya shortly old friend
Gonna be throwin’ your rubber ball
Or your favorite stick soon
Very soon
Or your favorite stick soon. A glance to joyful days.
Keegan pulling his red wagon with Chakana. Her last ride.
Forever friends.

Yet there is more depth and breadth here. Death is seen as a failure we keep people artificially alive. It is doubled edged. To be or not..., TY

Happy you never had to play with this human trick
Life support sucks you know
It has to be better that way.
