Time As Oracle

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

We often think of time as our enemy. Perhaps it’s time to consider other options.

Poem Artwork
Time As Oracle
by Odin Roark

It sometimes jumps ahead
This thing called time
Leading our hearts
Massaging our minds
Forever the optimist

How little we know her
Her memory often hides
Shadows suit one’s receding light
Its three dimensional essence
Having succumbed to wisdom’s patience
Finally accepting what’s past is past

Time’s present insistence
Offers gentle ushering
Often guarding us with
Options to adhere
Even as the interim
We may not be ready for...

In the end
We may have made a friend
That part of existence
That knows no barrier
No end game
Forever ready
To accompany us
Into the next evolution
The next arc
Fulcrum’s destiny
Pivot’s next juncture

Time waits for no one?

Perhaps we’re wrong

Might duration’s chronology
Be numberless?

Timeless?

Time is merely the dot on the I. Life without it may seem incomplete but there are so many alternatives that can and should at least be considered. Time does not simply give perspective, but rather insists on acquiescence, hence the unspoken evil of Never Never Land and its ticking crocodile. M.True

You raise two interesting propositions:
1. If there is no life after death, time ceases.
2. If there is life after death, time still ceases.
Time is therefore likely just a construct that we need in order to measure and understand changes that occur in 3-dimensional space.

Perhaps Time is Space's way of erasing its mistakes. And vice versa. Co-conspirators. Not only well crafted, Odin, but thoughtful ... as so many of your poem's are.

I'm of the mind that time makes all of us immaterial. Even as we think of ourselves as something special, time gives us not even the slightest glance. We are pawns on the chessboard of life. Still . . . Pawns can, and have, brought down kings.
