Steppin' Out

So much to take from what ever senses we have. (photo by Jeremy Mann)

Poem Artwork
Steppin’ Out
by Odin Roark

Enjoin your instrument
Lift from enclosure dark
Your Moonlight Sonata
Needs some street funk

Travel
Atop leather soles
From four walled safety
Yeah
Let your dog walk you
That’s okay
Out into the unknown
Ears perked

Feel the walk
Listen…

Jack hammer percussion
Taxi horns the accent
The subway beneath
The lulling adagio

Step out

Tires over steel covers
Bump
Tang
Ummph

Your dog quiet
Other dogs barking
Yeah
Synergy

Windows bleed chaos
Fights
Celebration
Music
Rock
Mozart

Yes

The coming together
Open
Love it
It’s you

Let Fido guide
He knows
Nothing gonna harm you

Absorb

Back to the four walls
Some water for Fido
Some bourbon for you

The keyboard
The recall
Harmonic layers
Captured by earsight

Ah

That smile
Nothing like this blindness
Imbibing all the inspiration
Such sublime release

Music

A pleasant reprieve... reminding me to get back out there once it stops raining! M.True

I used to be such a city girl! I still miss the bustle and liveliness and the feeling of being a part of something so big ...but now I agree with Ron. The city has changed a little too much, from when I was there.

Recalling your daily ritual with dog. My reasons were stepping out were different. While I love the wilderness and found it was my temple for deep thought, I craved the city, especially at night, and went there often, alone just to absorb the sights and sounds you convey in your poem. Still, I was glad to return to my apartment many miles away rather than stay in the dark damp streets. I once even thought of living in the city (San Francisco), but found the cost, grime, and age quite unpleasant.

Was able to envision it. Enjoyed it. Those precious senses that some take for granted.
