Imagine Facades…

Imagine Picasso's Guernica without a war
where shadows melt edges
and limbs of man and beast
bleed as one

Imagine fear wanting of battle
a mind-taint without weaponry
trembling made calm by love
where hate is rendered awash with sun's light
dissolving once acrid smoke of helplessness

Imagine too the teachings
that wrought the armor's crack justified
the dogma pronounced sacred
while quaking fjords beneath the surface
make palpable ignorance flow crimson

Imagine the precarious virtues undiscovered
a core of Man with but grass and soil
to comfort such foundation
dis-ease and moral thirst satiated by honesty’s purity
