This one is quite short by your standards, but the reason is within the poem. It is usually only one line of a classic poem that is remembered for the impact of those few words. So many poems are read and then dismissed, everybody thought of again, like the blink of an eye that missed the point.

Those great news stories you mention will pass and be forgotten.

The global tapestry is unraveling everywhere. My gosh! The statistics coming out about Mt Sinjar are mind-numbing and frightening. For me... Poets and writers certainly have their place in all of it. A poem about something can be just as effective as a snapshot if a person is open to that. It has nothing at all to do with being successful in my mind. It has everything to do with the reader being receptive. Photographs have a much greater market of exposure than poetry does. Sadly poetry and poets are fast losing their influence and credibility. The aloofness of poets is one of the reasons. Another is that poetry doesn't have much of a market share anymore because there's no demand for it. Sad.

The human memory is flawed. A photograph captures the moment exactly as it is. Which in and of itself allows the viewer to interpret the image with some degree of logic. In some cultures they say- of photographing a person- that it 'steals the spirit of the person'. Interesting take. Your work is always refreshing, Kent. It honestly reveals who you are as a person and what you are compelled to do. You never allow your ego to overshadow your insights like so many others do. Enjoyed this.
