Fiendish gravity of the insantiy.

The problem we face is not a country vs country where its war machine is identifiable and its soldiers wear a distinguishable uniform. This war is waged against an idealism based on a movement guised as religious fanaticism. As there are many splinters of this religious belief, it is difficult to extricate a common suicidal view. More countries are getting involved because this type of outrage from terrorists are growing in many places where the poor are easily influenced and indoctrinated. It becomes a cancer that destroys societies within. What can we as civilized countries do? We cannot allow the cancer to keep growing or we will lose our freedoms as we know them and be under the thumbs eventually of this type of fear. The whole of the civilized world is getting together to fight a common cancer that disrupts and destroys those freedoms and it is not a hysteria but factual danger the whole world faces if they do not act in concert.

I feel your concern and understand your writing this for telling of doom. But I don't agree.

The United States has laws and policies that are being used like, "we do not negotiate with terrorists." Many other countries worldwide share our same sentiment and are joining in cooperation never heard of before. The recent crackdowns in England and Belgium are two examples of what's going on behind the scenes. The FBI, CIA, and NSA are cooperating like never before, and are stopping many threats before they ever get started. We are only hearing about the ones that become public.

Although some people have objected to drone strikes, they have been quite effective and have eliminated many leaders pitching the rhetoric and ideology of jihad in many places, worldwide. From Osama bin Laden on down, recent years have shown great success without "going to war" and beating up small countries.

We are fully aware of the insanity of North Korea, Putin's Russia, Myanmar, ISIS, and other atrocities around the world. There may be some major war coming, perhaps even a misplaced nuclear bomb, but the world is a far better place and we are on watch, even if we don't know it. We are not on the verge of World War III.

Touches on both the emotions of our outrage and the irrationality of such wars. You have used so many excellent images of savagery when we know mankind can be better than that. Love the last line. Well thought through and well written.

Well said, Odin. Your words are the words of so many. How long will we, can we, be a silent partner in this barbarism. I dread putting more troops on the ground in that part of the world, but if we do not rout them and destroy them we will soon, if not already, lose our own freedom, what we have left of it. The air strikes? Please. We should, must get our hands dirty to destroy the insanity.

We may see these folks as barbaric. Others may see them as lost and troubled. If they are insane it may be the barbaric religion they are following. However millions of Muslims are NOT doing the same. Still too many remain quiet and discreetly support this insanity. It can truly lead the end of civilized humanity. We MUST make NEW laws that OUTLAW this type of overt practice and send them all to their mother country and not allow this cancer to spread to ours.

A passioante and thought provoking write. Most of humanity walk a path neatly placed between good and evil reaping the benefite of both sides. To go fully to one side or the other causes loss and hurt. When each indiviual decides to favor the path of good, and bravely embraces all the pains that come with it, the world will change.It is painful to step out of the box with a clear true vision and stand alone!
