Reticent Pain Spoken
by Odin Roark

Dreams awaken beneath closed eyelids
all the things a poet wishes to share with you,
observations and experience,
windows needing not curtains,
wanting only to provide the view of more unmapped roads,
precarious bridges crossing the swollen waterways or our hearts,
needing not the shores of safety and anchored protection,
but the challenge of discovering more unknowns.

For…

Words can allow distant horizons to serve tomorrow’s invitation,
to acknowledge that which we know, but hesitate to accept,
feeling the blinding light of life’s sunsets and sunrises,
the lightning-shattered line of horizon’s seemingly fixed entry and departure,
but fearful fragments presented as unsolvable puzzles,

Yet…
Above it all,
satellites tirelessly provide the invisible connection,
an amorphous antennae circling to connect all that is,
all that might be,
language spoken softly
like winds making gentle the pain of memories,
through ebbs and tides of timelessness.

Explorers all…

Poets and readers learn life's truth from each other,
sometimes revealed just as unexpectedly as
the rainbow of torment’s repose,
offering past warnings as memento,
storms once of yesterday,
delivered spent for our tomorrows,
always preparing for the now.

In his slumber, time asks the poet never cease
these echoed ripples of trust,
biding patiently with the beat of a reader’s heart,
knowing one day the roiling of reality
will awaken the resolve of a mutual forever.

How wondrous…

Space containing all the boundaries of our being,
love’s reticent pain forever present within
the him of you,
the you of him.

Except for the last lines, I see "reticent pain" in this piece. Only the glorious enough of the universe for us to view and the ability to communicate via satellite anywhere in the world instantaneously at very low cost. Indeed there is much fodder for the poet to chew on from this vast reservoir of discovery lying directly in front of us as if placed there for us to find.

A masterful piece.

Thank you.
