Addiction
by Odin Roark
Above sunlit lakes of mountainous humility,
ever-present umbrellas of nature’s dandelion
float respectful shrouds of self-effacement,
while beneath fathoms-deep protection,
polished pebbles and jagged scree
refract allegiance to time’s underwater sanctuary,
creation’s evolving permanence,
a residual of what once was,
that now will forever be,
the essence of perfection.
What then…
promotes the distant city-nescience,
advances webs of highway mayhem,
obsessively erects Monopoly-style communities,
causes simpletons to obsess on becoming a mogul,
the next king, queen or president?
How persuasive this addiction called ignorance,
even as the hovering umbrellas set free by a simple breath
continue asking we simply remain aware,
allow modesty’s gifts to never wane,
love’s child-within to never languish.
As far as the title goes, methinks you are addicted to prosetry. ;-)
