Undeveloped Exposures

Undeveloped issues sealed in the brain’s darkroom
ultimately fade in a gradually dimming, fogged, blankness.

How frustrating these hidden suppressed images
holding answers to a life in progress,
one’s living breath becoming shorter and shorter.

How disconcerting these emotions that overwhelm clarity of vision,
where the sub-conscious experience remains unforged
into its latent image of consciousness,
revealing lessons that might prevent
future misfires of the mind’s ever-active shutter,
purity’s nemesis continually adding an overpopulation
of impressions into an overcrowded graveyard of yesterdays.

Then again…

Perhaps loss has its own purpose,
destined to become but hauntings of ghost-like memorials
buried among layers of the unrealized,
adding to sanity’s safe-light room,
keeping us mindful of our undeveloped exposures.
