Poem Artwork
A F*#.*ist Carnival
by Odin Roark

If…

and when…

The cotton candy aphrodisiac
attempts to suffocate your sentient gift…

Keep your Passport current…

Kiss his historically-imitated salute goodbye…

Remove yourself from history repeated…

For…

Anywhere is better than a political gas chamber,
especially when millions may be taking their last breath
of the America they once knew,
but don’t even know it.

This fun house of mirrors
is but a f*#.*ist carnival attraction,
akin to the early 1930s in Germany,
and everyone knows how that turned out.

Time for some Sesame Street.

The sarcasm is very heavy in this, rather short for you, offering.

Psychological/sociological studies have shown that people are drawn to loud speaking orators with simple (minded?) solutions (why else would millions go to church services every Sunday to listen to someone tell them that they are sinners?). This follower mentality has existed since, even before Genghis Khan. And history keeps repeating itself, like we never seem to learn how dangerous these heroes really are. Everyone seems to like a larger than life blowhard who can conquer the world with his words… Eventually resorting to dictatorial action that inevitably turns disastrous, Napoleon.

You need to correct the typos in your title… You make it look like it's an expletive. ;-) Like bringing out the facets of the words.

Envisioning the end-game for me is frightening. America forced to chose between the lesser of the evils. Much is changing; and rather quickly too. Perhaps its time to join the ranks of the Woody Guthrie types and see America first-hand to understand for ourselves. But then again - perhaps not. We might be detained. Another Civil War/American Revolution is coming I'm thinking. 800 plus Fema Detention Centers in America are there for a reason.

I agree with Jerry, I think people are tired of the same old crap that politicians spurt out every 4 years and maybe there is a chance for something different to try.

Of all the dunderheads on that ticket, he is the least likely to follow the diabolical agenda of the extremists (that would be all of the others). The odds are against his making it all the way, still, New Zealand is my choice for debarkation.

Ha, Ha, sad but true. Even Sesame isn't the same as it used to be. I headed for the hills a long time ago and ended up in the desert, and so I watch from the distance, in the thick of another kind of turmoil. I think it is fitting that in a self-absorbed society, that values (and pays millions) to self-absorbed people, that there should be an egomaniac headlining the news on the political front as we move into election season. DT could actually win the election, who knows. There is a saying of the Prophet to the effect that "the people of a nation get the leaders they deserve. . . " Food for thought.

I'm voting for him. Pretty much tired of the same old, same old.
