Atemporal Living
by Odin Roark
To be naked upon a hilltop
with the vast tundra below,
and the infinite sky above,
concerned with what it might take to reach the heavens,
or tread upon the land for as far as the eye can see
seems of little importance,
save when we contemplate how long we’ve lived,
how many experiences we’ve created,
how many, and over what period of time, such moments will remain,
and when the grim reaper will pay a visit.
Time vanishes with the moment we stand stripped of worldly adornment,
The wants and “must have” must accomplish”
and realize only the quest “special” identity keeps us from being
just a naked person, standing upon a hill,
focused on the universe’s atemporal existence,
ready to embrace humankind truly living in a continuum of moments
coalescing with being here now.
Might there be something eternal about such a state of heart and mind?
