With so much fear being marketed by the media and self-serving power mongers, is it any wonder the amount and type of protection we seek out? (image by pinterest)

Security Locks
by Odin Roark
Security locks,
its genesis of trust being parental care
serving the innocent newborns of the day.
Later…
We scream back, “Trust?”
as we cinch the belt about our waist,
the band around our wrist,
the straps across our shoes,
the chains binding our hearts,
all the time dragging our fear behind.
Known to some…
Gradually travels the capacity to disable restraints,
bringing calm to the wind ravaging our inner-spirit,
permitting reason to be offered.
Seek not a dead bolt,
rather trust the buoyant-like feather of self-esteem,
reminding us principals worth protecting float calmly within,
insulated from the cyclonic deceptions permeating each day,
all from the invisible sanctuary of key-less security.
More likely, like in Louisiana, strangers with helping hands become heroes and personal property is respected among people oppressed by misfortune. Rather than enclose ourselves in our gated, closed minded communities, open ourselves to the world and its possibilities, ever so more kind and generous than one would ever think.
