The Swath of a Pen
by Odin Roark
Awaken and discover unearthed words have voices
singing to sunrises never born,
even as screeching anguish
knows there is kaleidoscopic impressions
buried beneath pigments of color
yet to be revealed.
For poets…
Unwritten visions resonate
guiding eyes to blank canvases
only paper can know.
Wrangle me a stallion on open land.
Let the sound of hooves echo canyons of dawn.
Set free the mane of ancient swirl.
Bridle my anxious heart.
Breathe whispers from ash strewn fingers of yesterday,
longing for today.
Let me grasp this pen so tight
it knows not to breathe,
only to write,
‘till sleep embraces the passion
and more dreams take flight.
Tomorrow,
there will be another
swath of the pen,
hopefully rousing its reader’s passion.
Ron
That about sums it up, the plight, the effort, the dream of the poet. Excellent write.
