Reoccurring Ghost Town Reality
by Odin Roark
The air we breathe has life.
Hi there.
Looking for something?
Thus the tumbleweed scurries to the side.
Dust storm lingers, but little.
Clouds grasp the moonlight.
Time’s past protects its domain.
Its barber remains at the clipping stance.
The sheriff stands gripping his Winchester.
The most lively miscreant knows the law’s wrath.
Still…
The inquisitorial century drives forth.
Pirelli sport tires cruise through the dust.
Lear Jets land on any and all they wish.
Satellite flyovers continue recording the obvious,
forgetting ghost town ghosts retain history
regardless of technology.
A wild west is determined to repeat itself,
even as election lures the 21st century’s noncognitive hopefuls,
and Silicon Valley tries to hold some modicum of integrity
as political reality gives more time-space to power and money,
money that has only one desire…
to pocket more.
Future ghost towns will hopefully be
without 2016 to remind them
of emotional wantons of the streets that rule…
Until the next time.
Love ya!
Jane
