Small Teardrops
by Odin Roark

Small teardrops know of travel.
They come from the depths of one’s core.
They desperately look for escape along
the torturous journey to the top.

They come from the depths of one’s sadness.
They desperately look for escape along
the torturous journey to the top,
sometimes pausing to influence
the muscle holding them back,
sometimes twisting the nerve-ends that fire their impassioned plea
to be calm once again.

Small teardrops always look toward the top, the opening where deliverance awaits,
where the calm and peace of a well-placed purge beckons reward.

Teardrops know not of their origin,
only of their birth.
their escape,
their freedom.

Oh, to feel upon one’s lips the purity of liberated teardrops,
even as some would repress such relief,
thinking it not proper to expose one’s need to release.

Cry we should,
for to not allow is to become a slave of sadness.

the nature of a teardrop, small or heavy, is to run down, not to the top, in order 'to become calm once again.' Only in the lower regions we can do it appropriately. For this reason, as you said, we feel it upon our lips, not on the forehead. Cheers, alex

I have been fortunate to experience tears both of joy and sorrow only a few times in my existence. Perhaps because I have repressed them so as not to show my hand in the poker game that is life. And I'm slow to anger. I also do not laugh when the laugh track prompts me. To me to laugh is the same as a tear. It is spontaneous and uncontrollable… Bubbles forth with joy and exuberance. Laugh like a child and you will remain childlike all the days of your life.

Thought I need to add a little uplifting to your sad little tale.

The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears. Heavy hearts, like heavy clouds in the sky, are best relieved by the letting of a little water. Indeed. In my life I've let a lake full. I've never hidden what I felt since I was a child. I wear my emotions on my sleeve along with a sword and a shield. Enjoyed. Peace to you... r

An astute observation, among many others in this insightful poem.

I cry whenever I hear I really good song, or a great singer, or any good musical composition, or anything that touches me deeply. I envy good writers, but rarely cry over what they have written. Don't know why.

I'm a drama king, don't care who knows whatever about me. I don't hide from the light.
